Reference Design for AS5601
General description
The AS5601-SO_RD_ST is a contactless encoder and allows an easy and fast evaluation of the AS5600 in the lab. Additionally it is possible to replace an existing encoder with the reference design. The module is fully assembled with an PCB including the AS5601 position sensor and its necessary external components. All relevant signals are available on a 7-way connector and can be easily wired to an existing application.

AS5601
The AS5601 is an easy-to-program magnetic rotary position sensor with incremental quadrature (A/B) and 12-bit digital output. This contactless system measures the absolute angle of a diametric magnetized on-axis magnet. Additionally, the PUSH output indicates fast airgap changes between the AS5601 and magnet which can be used to implement a contactless push-button function in which the knob can be pressed to move the magnet toward the AS5601. It is designed for contactless magnetic position sensor applications and its robust design eliminates the influence of any homogenous external stray magnetic fields. The industry-standard I²C interface supports simple user programming of non-volatile parameters without requiring a dedicated programmer. The AS5601 is also equipped with a smart low power mode feature to automatically reduce the power consumption. The device is available in a small form factor, compact 8-pin SOIC package.

USB I&P Box for I2C/SPI
USBI&PBox
The USB Interface & Programmer Box is an universal evaluation tool for magnetic position sensors with I2C or SPI interface. It comes with a 10-way cable to connect to a supported product on an existing board. The I2C or SPI wires are used for the communication (3.3V mode) and additionally the sensor can be powered from the USB I&P Box. By using the USB I&P Box Software, it is possible to read out the sensor data, write a configuration and to permanently program a configuration.
