The AS5600 is an easy to program magnetic rotary position sensor with a high-resolution 12-bit analog or PWM output. This contactless system measures the absolute angle of a diametric magnetized on-axis magnet. This AS5600 is designed for contactless potentiometer applications and its robust design eliminates the influence of any homogenous external stray magnetic fields. The industry-standard I²C interface supports simple user programming of non-volatile parameters without requiring a dedicated programmer. An easy start and stop position programming in a so called “3 wire mode” without a programmer or digital interface is also implemented. The default range of the output is 0 to 360 degrees. The AS5600 can be applied to smaller range by programming a zero angle (start position) and a maximum angle (stop position). The AS5600 is also equipped with a smart low power mode feature to automatically reduce the power consumption.

The reference module AS5600-SO_RD_RB is a contactless potentiometer module which is produced by MEGATRON (www.megatron.de) and allows an easy and fast evaluation of the AS5600 rotary magnetic position sensor. With this module it is possible to replace an existing potentiometer solution. The module is fully assembled with the AS5600 position sensor and its necessary external components. All relevant signals are available on a 5-way connector and can be easily wired to an existing application. Additionally a 4-way DIP-switch allows you to change the settings of the AS5600.
Arduino Shield for AS5600
AS5600-POTUINO
The AS5600-POTUINO is a shield compatible with the Arduino UNO board. It was designed to evaluate the AS5600 Smart Potentiometer IC. The Arduino shield is fully assembled with the AS5600 IC and its necessary external components. It offers different breakout options. A breakout magnet holder is available on the left side of the PCB and in addition, an adapter board breakout is possible. A LabVIEW Evaluation GUI software and example source code is available for download.

USB I&P Box for I2C/SPI
USBI&PBox
The USB Interface & Programmer Box is an universal evaluation tool for magnetic position sensors with I2C or SPI interface. It comes with a 10-way cable to connect to a supported product on an existing board. The I2C or SPI wires are used for the communication (3.3V mode) and additionally the sensor can be powered from the USB I&P Box. By using the USB I&P Box Software, it is possible to read out the sensor data, write a configuration and to permanently program a configuration.

The AS5270 is a dual-die, high-resolution angular position sensor for precise absolute angle measurement. The AS5270 is available with an analog output interface (AS5270A) or a digital output interface (AS5270B). The latter can be programmed as a PWM or a SENT-compliant output interface.
Based on a Hall sensor technology, this device measures the orthogonal component of the flux density (Bz) over a full turn rotation and compensates for external stray magnetic fields with a robust architecture based on a 14-bit sensor array and analog front-end (AFE). A sub-range can be programmed to achieve the best resolution for the application. To measure the angle, only a simple two-pole magnet rotating over the center of the package is required. The magnet may be placed above or below the device. The absolute angle measurement provides an instant indication of the magnet’s angular position. The AS5270 operates at a supply voltage of 5V, and the supply and output pins are protected against overvoltage up to +20V. In addition the supply pins are protected against reverse polarity up to -20V.
