Simplify tunable white lighting systems with the AS7225 sensor-integrated IoT smart sensor/director. The AS7225 will lower the manufactured cost of your tunable white lighting system, while allowing maximum IoT flexibility by working in conjunction with any standard application host microprocessor. CCT-calibrated tri-stimulus color sensing for direct CIE color point mapping translates CCT targets to warm/cool string directives.
Adaptive algorithmic support enables a companion application host microprocessor to implement closed-loop, autonomous adjustment of variable CCT and daylight responsive LED lamps and luminaires. The AS7225 arrives pre-calibrated, and is designed for rapid integration into white-tunable and daylight responsive luminaire designs, delivering directives to the local microprocessor via serial UART or I²C bus. Sensor integration plus closed loop control enables lower precision system components to produce a higher-quality tunable white luminaire or replacement lamp.

The Smart Sensor/Director Demo Kit is a complete color tuning luminaire reference design solution, built around the AS7225 smart-sensor enabled lighting director. The AS7225 Demo Kit serves as a self-contained reference design to move developers rapidly from demo to proof-of-concept integration into a prototype luminaire design. The kit consists of a mezzanine style PCB which includes the AS7225 Smart Sensor/Director, warm/cool LED strings for tunable white capabilities, and an on-board 8051 microcontroller that interfaces to the graphical user interface and LED strings, and executes the color tuning directives. The mezzanine connectors enable fast breadboarding, or easy creation of a compatible reference design. Signals on the connectors include I2C which would be routed to an alternate host microcontroller, PWM lines up to the mezzanine board FETs for LED control, and an 8051 disable signal in support of a microcontroller base board. The kit includes a diffuser, USB to serial interface cable, and power supply with US/European adapter. The included memory stick includes complete user documentation, GUI and drivers.

Configurable single CCT lifetime target values are stored at the time of manufacture, allowing the AS7220 to manage independent LED strings to assure consistent CCT over time, temperature, and the full range of dimming. TSL2572 device family provides ambient light sensing (ALS) that approximates human eye response to light intensity under a variety of lighting conditions and through a variety of attenuation materials. Accurate ALS measurements are the result of TAOS’ patented dual-diode technology and the UV rejection filter incorporated in the package. The operating range can be extended to 60000 LUX when the low-gain mode is use. The TSL2572 device is particularly useful for enabling automatic brightness control (ABC) in large LCD flat-panel TVs and displays by providing optimum viewing in diverse lighting conditions (daytime versus nighttime viewing) while significantly reducing energy consumption to meet the stringent ENERGY STAR requirements.
