Premstaetten, Austria, (January 27, 2021) -- ams (SIX: AMS), a leading worldwide supplier of high-performance sensor solutions, today announced that it received the Best Innovation Award 2020 and Best Delivery Award 2020 at the vivo 2020 Global Supplier Conference on Dec 10, 2020. More than 100 vivo suppliers participated in this selection process. These awards recognize ams’ excellent delivery efficiency and innovative technology research and development capability during its cooperation with vivo. After the conference, Mr. Zhen Zhiqiang, Chief Procurement Officer and Senior Vice President at vivo, who is responsible for the company's supply chain business, presented the awards to ams.

As a global brand focusing on smart phone design and development, smart terminals, and smart online services, vivo has achieved a global sales volume of 130 million cellphones despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Even against this background and by actively responding to customer needs and continuously improving supply chain flexibility, ams achieved the delivery targets with outstanding efficiency and excellent product quality.

The Best Innovation Award represents vivo's consistent recognition and praise for ams in the field of technological innovation. Since 2015 ams has established a firm partnership with vivo, providing sensing technology for the manufacturer’s smart products. In the key fields of smart phone display management and imaging quality, ams has been a continuous force of innovation for vivo’s smart products. As both companies place high value on their passion for technological innovation, a strong and solid foundation for the close co-operation between the two companies resulted.

At present, ams’ TMF8801 Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, TCS3701 optical sensor, TCS3707 color and proximity sensor are all widely used on vivo X series Android professional flagship mobile phones. This provides a powerful boost for ams’ technology for behind-OLED display sensing, laser detection auto focus (LDAF) and other technical fields. As a leader in the field of ToF sensors, TMF8801 provides the best support for the rear mobile phone camera with LDAF which can greatly improve the fast focusing ability and image quality of mobile phones.

Mr. Zhen Zhiqiang said: “Creating world-class smart devices and providing consumers with the ultimate product experience has been the driving force in the vivo corporate vision. We are willing to go forward together with ams to face multiple challenges from the smart device market and technology field. As our most important business partner, ams' support in technology innovation and excellent product supply is an important guarantee that vivo products can be brought successfully to market and widely recognized by consumers.”

Pinglu Chen, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Greater China at ams, said: “I am very grateful to vivo for its recognition of ams. From the continuous innovation of full-screen display technology to the evolution of the mobile phone imaging system, founded on the organic combination of ams’ industry-leading sensor technology and vivo’s excellent smart device products, we have jointly achieved breakthroughs in the field of smart devices. We look forward to further deepening the co-operation with vivo in fields that may include 3D or biosensing to bring new user experience to consumers, based on mutual trust and mutual benefit.”
