Staff Engineer, Customer Quality Engineering

  • Ownership for division related CQE strategy and CQE execution
  • Key go-to person in the Business Unit for any CQE related issues
  • Analyze and manage product returns within the applicable quality standards and contract terms agreed with customers. Oversee RMA process and aggressively drive to minimize RMA cycle time
  • Controlling and reporting of all Business Unit related CQE topics (Customer Quality Engineering, internal & external audit preparation & management, continuous improvement)
  • Drive Quality Improvements in Operations Quality to meet/exceed market and customer requirements, including PCNs
  • Ensures execution of Customer Quality Engineering support/resources
  • Drives Failure Analysis and Reliability asset/resource commitment from Corporate Quality (within regional ams), including outsourced model. Responsible for the USA CQE strategy of the Business Unit
  • Drive reduction of non-quality cost, like rework/rescreen/recurrence improvements through KPIs and goal alignment/handshake with Operations
  • Ensure Product Engineering Engineering’s compliance to engineering flows and customer requirements before handover from PQE for sustaining responsibility
  • Write and deliver customer facing presentations to communicate frequent status and deliver technical solution


  • Minimum of Master’s in Material Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics or equivalent
  • Strong (> 3 yrs) experience in semiconductor industry
  • Knowledge in GaAs VCSEL, Epitaxial (EPI), Optics (Micro Lens Arrays), Module and Systems Packaging are key required skills. Exposure of silicon photonics, micro-lens technologies, iToF, dToF (Direct/Indirect Time of Flight) would be an added advantage
  • Know-how of quality tools (FMEA's and 8-D reporting, ISO TS16949, ISO26262 and QS9000 Quality Standards), including applying tools in practice
  • For automotive: Several years experience in automotive Quality Engineering, incl. APQP, FMEA, PPAP, Safelaunch etc. Knowledge in Functonal Safety is an added advantage
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills (self-driven, proactive, taking initiative, team player, ensures accountability)
  • Proficient in defining business process and in change management
  • Excellent communication skills (motivating teams, presenting to customers and internal management/stakeholders)
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills (like data analysis, data mining and interpretation, 8D process)
  • High level of self-organization, shows process-oriented way of working, has strong planning- and task management skills
  • Capable of leading interdisciplinary Task Force to solve complex problems
  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced environment, stays cool and works efficiently under pressure
  • Strong Fluent English (spoken and written), additional languages are beneficial
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%) and to work in international teams
